The Ultimate K-Pop Party: Inside Ella’s Epic 8th Birthday
If there were ever a party that screamed main character energy, it was Ella’s 8th birthday. Hosted at her family’s home in Currumbin, this K-Pop Demon Hunters–themed celebration was every tween’s dream - a mix of disco lights, glitter, creativity, and chaos (the fun kind).
This was our third time being part of Ella’s birthday celebrations, and I couldn’t believe she’s already eight! Even though her family recently moved from Byron Bay to the Gold Coast, her mum still asked us to help make the day extra special - and honestly, it was one of our most epic parties yet.
The Vibe: Glitter, Laughter, and K-Pop Magic
With 20 kids aged 7–8, the energy was off the charts. Think mini pop stars dressed in K-Pop outfits, squealing with excitement, and ready to create something amazing. It was loud, full of laughter, and bursting with personality - basically, everything you want in a kids’ party.
Shorty Brown brought the music and fun as our DJ and host (her Rumi costume was perfection!) keeping the disco vibes high from the moment guests arrived. Between dance breaks, a pool swim, pass the parcel, and a piñata, the day was jam-packed with moments that made every kid feel like a star.
The Craft: Custom Kicks Worth Strutting In
For the main activity, we went all out with custom sneaker decorating - the ultimate K-Pop accessory. Ella’s mum provided the shoes, and we brought the rest: beads, paint pens, patches, and charms galore.
Once the girls got the hang of tying and threading beads onto their laces, they were unstoppable. Some went for clean and minimal, others full sparkle and colour - but every pair was totally unique. The best part? Watching them proudly show off their finished sneakers!
The Decor: A Stage Fit for a Superstar
Under the Bang Bang Balloons umbrella, we handled all the styling and planning - and this one was pure magic.
We built a big silver shimmer wall framed with pastel pink, purple, hot pink, and silver balloons. A K-Pop cutout Brisbane Event Signage tied the theme together, and our custom purple arch board read “Ella’s 8th World Tour.” It doubled as the photo area and stage for Shorty Brown’s disco.
There were plenty of little touches too - personalised tote bags for the girls to take home their sneakers, custom name cards, and placemats. Those small details really made it feel like a full experience, not just a party.
The Moments That Matter
Like any good kids’ party, things didn’t go exactly to plan (hello, last-minute move from outdoors to indoors after battling the wind). But in true party-mum spirit, everyone pulled together, and it ended up being the perfect space.
Seeing all the kids so happy made the chaos worth it. I couldn’t help but think of my own four-year-old - this would have been her dream day.
Reflections and Why We Loved It
This was definitely one of our biggest parties to date - a little more over-the-top than our usual intimate gatherings - but it reminded me why we do what we do. We love creating experiences that feel joyful, personal, and full of creativity.
Whether it’s a low-key craft session in Byron Bay or a full K-Pop extravaganza on the Gold Coast, we’re all about helping kids make memories (and mums get to enjoy the moment instead of stressing about the setup).
