Birdhouse and Beaded Flower Vine Craft
Birdhouse Workshop: Paint, Bedazzle and Beaded Flower Vine Craft
Our first whimsy Wednesday is all about birdhouses. Kids start with a wooden birdhouse blank, ready for them to make completely their own. Paint it, bedazzle it, or even tile it, whatever fits their whimsy style. Once the birdhouse is decorated, we finish it off with a beaded flower vine that hangs from the bottom, like a sun catcher made of tiny beaded blooms and leaves trailing down.
It's a two part project. The first half is all decorating, paint, gems, patterns, whatever look they're going for. The second half slows right down into beading, threading small glass beads, flowers and leaf charms onto strands that hang beneath the house and catch the light.
This one's a great fit for kids who like having a project with a few different steps, rather than doing the same thing the whole time. It suits kids who enjoy painting and being a bit messy and creative early on, but also don't mind sitting still for the more detailed beading work later.
A sweet mix of painting, sparkle and detail work, finished with a piece that actually looks beautiful hanging up at home.
